You expect Strasburg to have a quaint history and it doesn’t disappoint. Originally called Comanche Crossing, in 1875 it was renamed in honor
of John Strasburg, a railway employee.

The first continuous rail system in America was completed here in the
1870’s. To commemorate its completion, a golden rail spike was to be
used.  But the man delivering the spike missed the stage, so an iron
spike wrapped in tinsel was used.
